Dansville- Robert O. "Bob" Beckwith age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday December 23, 2010. He was born in Cazenovia, NY on December 7, 1919, a son of the late Ralph and Katherine (Judd) Beckwith. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Kenneth and Mary Beckwith. On April 1, 1961, he was married to Mildred (Hults) Beckwith who survives. Bob was a WWII US Army veteran serving from 1942-1945, and was a participant in the following campaigns, Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was a longtime member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion and the Frank Casbolt # 6780 of the VFW both of Dansville. Bob owned and operated Bob's Electric Service in Rush for several years, after he sold the business he worked for Betlem Heating Service in Rochester for over twenty years. After retirement, Bob and Millie moved to Dansville, and wintered in Florida, when in Dansville he continued to be very busy every day repairing electric motors for area farmers and repairing and collecting antique clocks. He was a good neighbor and enjoyed helping his friends fix things that needed repairing. He also enjoyed watching the neighborhood children play and fixing there toys when they broke. Mildred was the love of his life along with his dear cat Kipper who will both miss him greatly. Surviving in addition to his dear wife Millie, are his siblings, Gene (Arlene) Beckwith of MN, and Alice (Nick) Marasco of Andover and many nieces and nephews. Friends called Monday from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services were held at the completion of calling hours. Interment was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville with military honors. Contributions to Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion, PO Box 306, Dansville, NY 14437 or the Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
