Dansville- Robert J. "Bob" Drum age 89, formerly of Cottage St. in Dansville, passed away early Monday morning November 1, 2010, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, where he had been a resident for the past few years. He was born in Wayland, on September 18, 1921, a son of the late James G. and Edith (Whitman) Drum. On November 18, 1943, at St. Mary's Church in Dansville he was married to Marion (Armstrong) Drum, who predeceased him on October 19, 1989. He was also predeceased by a son Guy James Drum. Bob was a WWII US Army veteran serving with the 593rd Joint Signal Company from 1942 to 1945. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville, where he was often an usher at Mass and was active with Boy Scout Troup 38 sponsored by the church as an assistant Scoutmaster. A life member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion; a member of the Dansville Fish and Game Club, and a former member of the Frank J. Casbolt # 6780 VFW Post, all of Dansville. He was employed at F.A. Owen publishing Company in Dansville for thirty-six years and retired as the shipping foreman. He had also worked at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards on Tuesday's at the Rod and Gun Club. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and would always say how blessed he was to have them all close by. He is survived by three sons; Mark (Mary) Drum, Charlie Drum and Jim (Valerie) Drum all of Dansville, two daughters; Marlene (Joel) Martin of Wayland and Marsha (Roger) Krueger also of Dansville, seven grandchildren and a three great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment with full military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
