Obituary of Abbie Dangler VanPernis

Dansville- Abbie VanPernis age 94 passed away early Saturday morning September 4, 2010, at the Hornell Gardens Nursing Home in Hornell where she had been a resident for the past several months. She was born in Linden NJ, on July 12, 1916, a daughter of the late George and Abbie Jones Dangler. On September 29, 1940, she was married to James VanPernis who predeceased her on November 7, 2008. She was also predeceased by a brother and five sisters. Abbie resided with her husband Jim in Dansville from 1940 -2008, after Jim died she moved to Hornell to live with her son Tom until suffering a stroke in May of this year. She then moved to Hornell Gardens where she received wonderful care. She was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church for over 70 years. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Bill) Nichols of Greece, three sons, James (Cathy) VanPernis of Sunnyvale, CA, Thomas VanPernis of Hornell and David (Jennifer) VanPernis of North Springfield, VA, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday Sept. 16, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Dansville Presbyterian Church, with the Pastor Cathy Foerster officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville. Online remembrance may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Abbie was a wonderful mother with a great sense of humor who will be missed by all of her family and friends.
