Sparta - Milton "Milt" Hynes age 83 passed away Tuesday evening July 6, 2010, at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. He was born in Springwater on July 18, 1926, a son of the late Clark Fayette and Emma LaVerna (Gilbert) Hynes. He was also predeceased by his brothers Richard and Morris Hynes, sisters and brothers in law Lorena Faulkner, Sarah Jo and Joseph Whitaker, Herman Lawrence, Ira Dye and a nephew Robert Hynes. On June 26, 1949, he was married to Daphne Cudd Hynes who survives. Milt was the Town of Sparta Highway Superintendent for over thirty five years and Livingston County Deputy Highway Superintendent for three years. He was also a special Deputy of the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. He owned and operated Hynes Gun Shop for 45 years in Sparta. In his earlier years he drove a milk truck, operated a saw mill and built several out buildings on the family farm. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Most of all he enjoyed the special times spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Sparta Center Fire Department, a life member of the Dansville Fish and Game Club and the NRA, a fifty year member of the Livingston County Highway Superintendents Association. Milt and Daphne were honored in 2001 as Sparta Senior Citizens of the year. Surviving in addition to his dear wife Daphne, are his children, Susan (David) Stocking of Dansville James (Joanne) Hynes of OH, and Judy Ann (Kenneth B. Smith) Hynes- Magee of Batavia, William D. Smith of FL and Gerald Hagle of Sparta. A sister Evelyn Dye, sisters in law- Kathryn Hynes and Frances (William) Carnell. Seven grandchildren, Stacy (David) Benton, Karen (Stephen) Blochwitz, Jodi (Sean) Walters, Jayne Daphne (William) Shultz, James Milton (Brandy) Hynes, Kellie (Andrew) Danglis and Kevin Magee, fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 2:00 pm with Milt's good friend the Rev. James Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Kiehle Cemetery, Sparta. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
