Obituary of Francis "Frank" Charland

Wayland- Francis Joseph Charland- On this day, May 14th 2010 Francis J Charland went to join our Lord in Heaven at the age of 73 after a brief illness. Frank, as he was known to all, was born in Saranac Lake on September 5th 1936 and relocated to Dansville NY in 1963. He was predeceased by his parents; Raymond Francis and Evelyn Isadoria Aldrich Charland, also of Saranac Lake. Frank enjoyed his career and co workers as a construction truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamster Union. He was employed as an owner operator and worked for several construction companies including Blades, Dewitt, Groves, and Ellsworth Trucking throughout his life. Frank is survived by the love of his life and his best friend of forty-five(45) years, Evelyn Pfuntner Rowe of Wayland, NY, one brother, Raymond (Kay) Charland of Kentucky, two children, Lynda, and John of Saranac Lake and ten step children; Donnie (Susie) and Randy Rowe of Conesus, Donna (Jim) Howe of South Dansville, Harriet (Kermit) Sleggs of Canaseraga, Kathie (John) Sleight and Ruby Rowe (Kevin Hawxhurst) of Swain, Harry J. (Dawn) Rowe and Debbie Sanders (Jim Alverson) of Dansville, Marcia Rowe-Smalt (Randy) of Avoca, Lynda Turner of Wellsville. Additionally, he had thirty four (34) grandchildren, sixty two (62) great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frank enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, watching TV (NCI and old movies), car shopping, and he loved to cook and entertain. His most significant and cherished hobbies were spending quality time with his family and attending their many, many family functions of which his attendance will be painfully missed. There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday, May 20th 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion 34 Elizabeth Street, Dansville NY. Family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or directly to Evelyn. Francis J.
