Dansville- Muriel B. "Mookie" Vaughan age 89, formerly of Hessler Court in Dansville passed away Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, where she had been a resident for the past six months. She was born in England on March 7, 1921, a daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Ealey) Garmston. On April 14, 1944, she was married to Vincent H. Vaughan, who predeceased her on September 24, 1985. She was also predeceased by a grandson Peter W. Howe, siblings, Douglas Garmston and Dorothy Pick and a brother in-law Eric Pick. Mookie was a longtime active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Dansville, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Acolyte, Vestry Member, and Sunday School Teacher. She was a Life Member, Past President and Sgt. of Arms of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Golden Cross Circle at the Kings Daughter's and Son's Home in Dansville. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, going to the casino, playing bridge, and was an avid bowler for many years. She was employed as a cashier in the showroom at the former Kelly Brothers Nurseries of Dansville. She was also a cashier, cheese cutter and worked in the meat department at the former A&P Grocery Store in Dansville. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Larry) Howe of Dansville, a son, Paul (Patricia) Vaughan of Clarence Center, a brother, Leslie Garmston of England, seven grandchildren, Craig (Patty) Howe, Jennifer Howe, Brett Vaughan, Ryan (Mary) Vaughan, Jonathan (Megan) Vaughan and Joshua Vaughan, ten great-grandchildren Casey, Kayla, Emily and Matthieu Howe, Lucas, Mason, Reese, Cash, Rocco and Knox Vaughan, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Sparta. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 21 Clara Barton St., Dansville, NY 14437 or the Activity Fund at the Livingston County CNFR, 11 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
