Obituary of Walter E. Davies

He was born in Nunda, on August 9, 1931, a son of the late Norman L. and Bernice A. (Batterson) Davies. He was also predeceased by his wife Lucy (Hess) Davies and siblings, Peter, Newton, Clyde and Shirly Davies, Louise Marble and Emily Wabnitz. Walt was a US Army Korean era veteran and member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion and a life member of the Nunda VFW Post. He was a fifty year member of the Union Hose Company of the Dansville Fire Department and a social member of the Jackson Hose Company. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville and the Dansville Ambulance Company. In his earlier years he enjoyed camping, golf, hunting and fishing and playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He is survived by a son, Wayne (Jodi) Davies of Victor a daughter, Vickie (Randy Harvey) Muchler of Bath. Siblings Roger (Ray Gotte) Davies and Izeldah "Bum" (Sue Edwards) Davies both of Hunt Hollow. Walt is also survived by his companion, Dianne Wampole, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Friday at 11:00am. Interment with full military honors will be in Canaseraga Cemetery.
