I am sorry for your loss. I did not know him personally, but in doing research on a 1970 Chevelle SS that I own, I decided to try to contact the original owner. This car was sold to Shay's Service Inc on May 2 1970 from Witt- chevrolet Pontiac. If anyone has info and would like to share, It would be greatly appreciated. My cell # 585-315-9046. Sorry I did not start my search sooner,I would have liked to meet Mr Shay. Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends.

I just learned from Janet that Tim had departed this life as we know it.
Sorry for all of you that his time had to come -- as it must for all of us.
We knew him more as a nice friendly guy with a nice wife and family
more than as the successsful businessman we also knew him to be.
Reading his obit in the paper made me realize how much greater
his accomplishments were than I had any idea, a testimony to his
modest decency and consideration for his fellow beings.
He has left you with a heritage to take pride in and pass on.

What an accomplished and humble man. He was very important to me and my family as youths...I remember him with an ever present smile and a good word...and kindness. My dad always spoke highly of Tim and about some "devilish" capers. I think Jon, you were about 16 when you he was no push over. He and Mrs. Shay produced outstanding children. Jon, Mimi, Kathy and Tim I am very sad about your father's passing but I am certain The Lord welcomed him with open arms. I can't help but shed a tear on the passing of this terrific guy and citizen! Love, Paul & Helen

Please accept my sincere sympathy for the passing of your beloved father. Of course, he was a very important part of my life as well as most of the residents of Dansville. He was always very caring and involved with his employees. I know my grandfather adored him and all of you. And my dad had great respect and love for him. May he rest in peace.

My condolences. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Tim Sr., I am truly thankful for his part in establishing and promoting the NY Motor Truck Association. Along with George Terpening Sr., Paul Hillman, and others, these gentlemen made a huge contribution to our industry.

Enjoyed hearing his stories of the good old days particularly when they included my own grandfathers, Lyman Fuhrman and Charlie Dilgard, both friends of Mr. Shay for many years.
Pleased to help with his REO truck a while back as well.
He certainly did a lot for Dansville!
Condolences to John and Linda and the employees at Shay/Main Tire.
