Obituary of Clyde A. Boyd

Please share a memory of Clyde to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
He was born in Dansville, on June 30, 1924, a son of the late William and Gladys (Morris) Boyd. He was also predeceased by a son, Douglas, and a brother Gerald Boyd. On July 10, 1948, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dansville he was married to Helen "Dolly" (Vogel) Boyd, who survives.Clyde was a WW II US Marine Corps. Veteran. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Phoenix Lodge # 115 of the F& AM, the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion all of Dansville. He was also a member and past president of the Dansville Kiwanis Club. He was active in Dansville Government having served as Vice Mayor for the Village of Dansville, and was a long time member of the Town of North Dansville Board where he served as Councilman, and he also served a term as Town of North Dansville Town Clerk. He also served on the Greenmount Cemetery Association Board of Directors. He managed the former Dansville AGWAY on Maple St. for many years. In his free time he enjoyed being active with the Boy Scouts his fraternal organizations, and fishing, especially ice fishing with his brother Don and many other friends. Dad was a true family man - just to look at him you could see the love for family and life - he taught us to stick together in any situation - nothing is too tough to handle. His timely humor and contagious smile worked like a charm. These values were obviously innate from his own upbringing as everyone has always said, "If you know one Boyd, you know them all". Although our Mom, his wife of 61 years, was truly the love of his life, his heart opened up for his children and grandchildren. He was truly our role model for life. The first complete sentence each of the grandson's said was "I want to be just like Pa when I grow up!" Dad was proud to be a World War II Marine serving his country and continued to be a community servant throughout his life. Dad's constant whistling and humming his favorite tune "I don't want her, you can have her..she's too fat for me!!!" will be heard forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Monroe County Hospice Visiting Nurse Service, 2180 Empire Blvd. Webster, NY 14580. St. Paul's Lutheran Church 21 Clara Barton St., Dansville Ambulance Fund, PO Box 235, both of Dansville, NY 14437.
