Obituary of Margaret O'Malley-Moran Boone-Knopf

Margaret passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2009 at the Livingston County CNFR in Mt. Morris.She was born February 5, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio the beloved daughter of Michael and Mary (Navin) O'Malley. Margaret graduated from West High School in Cleveland in 1938. She married R. Emmett Moran in June 1941. She learned to operate a telephone switchboard during WW II, working at Two Rocks Army Post in Petaluma, California where her husband was stationed. After the war they returned to Cleveland and had three children. After Emmett's untimely death in 1958, Margaret returned work as PBX operator with Standard Products. In 1961 Monsignor Wm. Thorpe, her parish priest, introduced her to a widower, Daniel G. Boone. They married and became very active in the parish. Margaret was a member and past president of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also the co-founder (along with the late Denny Chambers) of the St. Patrick's Drama Club. She was widowed again in 1976 and began working at 3M. Margaret retired from 3M and moved to Dansville in 1986, to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Afterward she met and married Carl Knopf who predeceased her in 2006.In addition to her parents and husbands, Margaret was also predeceased by her siblings, Eileen Slattery (Jack), Ann Lucas (Bruce), Janie Kilbane (John), Mae Golden (Edward), Joseph, Mary, Marie, and Michael O'Malley. She is survived by a sister in-law Mary Ginley O'Malley, her children, R. Emmett Moran (Janet), Timothy A. Moran (Mary), and Darlene Moran Kelly (Thomas); Grandmother of eight, Bridget Garsh, Megan Lodge, Bryan & Patrick Moran; Sean, Thomas, Bridget and Erin Kelly, great-grandmother of three. Step-mother of Carolyn Knopf Gross (James) and the late John Knopf and step-grandmother to Matthew, Whitney and Erika Gross. Loving aunt to many and friend to all. Interment will be private. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church West Park, 4427 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland, OH on Saturday April 4, 2009 at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in Memory of Margaret Knopf. Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
