Sylvia Ann Sessler Obituary

She was born in Olean, NY on August 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Clement and Ann (Sodoski) Meriden. She was the widow of Kenneth A. Sessler who predeceased on October 26, 2008.


Sylvia was a registered nurse at the former Dansville Memorial Hospital, Noyes Memorial Hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital, Craig Colony, Livingston Correctional and Groveland Correctional where she retired from.


She was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Sylvia was a volunteer for the American Red Cross blood drives, and the Dansville Community Food Pantry. She enjoyed, traveling, bird watching, horseback riding, gardening, reading, playing piano, guitar, and spending time on farm in NY and the beach with Ken and the rest of her family in North Carolina. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force and member of the Frank J. Casbolt VFW Post Auxiliary.


She is survived by a daughter, Dana (Larry) Henry of West Sparta, a son, Matthew (Barbara) Sessler of NC, and twin sons, Nathan (Tera) Sessler of NC and Noel (Keli) Sessler of OH. A sister Sloan (Doug) Kennett of Tonawanda, five grandchildren and a nephew.


There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Dansville. At Sylvia's request her cremains will be comingled with Ken's and scattered at some of their favorite places. Ref. Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
