Dansville- William Forsythe- lost his battle with cancer Monday January 13, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 79.

Bill was raised in Red Creek, NY. He was born on March 28, 1945, to Alfred and Geraldine Forsythe. Bill considered Dansville his home and loved being part of the community.

Bill attended the State University of Oswego where he received his teaching degree. In 1969 he traveled to Dansville, NY for an interview where he would become the Sr. High Technology teacher. In July 1971, Bill married the love of his life Norma Gaiss. Bill retired from Dansville High School in 2000.

Bill loved working in his wood shop, golfing, traveling, working on puzzles & spending time with his family. Bill was a lifelong member of the Union Hose Fire Department and spent many years on the drill team. He was an avid woodworker; his beautiful creations won him many awards over the years at the Annual Letchworth Craft Show where he could be found every Columbus Day weekend for over 30 years.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Norma, daughter Robin and (Michael) Kapelke, sister Nancy (Dallas) Sumner.

A Fireman’s Memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday January 18th, at the Union Hose Club room 66 Elizabeth St. Dansville, a Celebration of Life to follow. Arrangements by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
