Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Matthews

Dansville/Conesus Lake - Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Matthews age 73, passed away unexpectedly late Saturday evening November 16, 2024, at her winter residence in Daytona Beach, Florida; in the arms of her husband Guy Matthews. She was born in Dansville on March 29, 1951, daughter of the late John V. and Lucy F. (Granita) Mistretta. Betsy was a Communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. She owned and operated a successful ceramic shop in Dansville for many years. Betsy spent 20 years in Vero Beach, FL raising her children while working alongside Guy in the family business. After returning to Geneseo in 2002, she became a beloved member of the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors where she dedicated over 20 years to her profession. As an Associate Broker, she was a trailblazer and leader, she served as the President of the Women's Council of Realtors, inspiring countless colleagues with her vision and passion for the industry. Her commitment to excellence, mentorship, and advocacy left an indelible mark on everyone she worked with. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, kind heart, and the countless lives she touched both personally and professionally. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years Guy, her children, Guy (Jill) Matthews Jr. of St. Charles, MO and Pamela (Ryan) West of Ormond Beach, FL, five grandchildren, Guy III, John, Grace, Addison, Ryleigh, siblings, John V. (Michelle) Mistretta Jr., Michael (Margaret) Mistretta, Ann (Fred) Shutt, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Dansville on Saturday January 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Big Tree Inn in Geneseo from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, NY.
