Scottsburg/Hornell- Margaret "Peg" Elizabeth Lerch age 79, passed away early Friday morning November 1, 2024, at her home in Hornell. Peg was born in Monaca, Pennsylvania, on February 1, 1945, a daughter of the late Harold C. and Willow (Birge) Winkle. She was predeceased by her siblings, Irene Irons, James Winkle, Joseph Winkle, Sally Lynn, Donna Harcher, Mary Hanton, Calvin Winkle, and most recently her son, Ronald King Jr., on October 1, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years; Michael Lerch, her sons; Dennis King and Charles (Chuck) King, her grandchildren; Natasha King, Katelynn King, Christina King, Cindy King and Charles King, her great-grandsons Jayse Prickett, Dante Burkett and Devlin Burkett, her brother Harold Winkle Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Prior to living in Hornell, Peg and her husband lived in the small Town of Scottsburg for over 35 years. She was known as the unofficial "Mayor" of Scottsburg as she always knew everything about everyone in the little town. Peg spent most of her years raising her sons and then helping raise her granddaughters as well. Peg and Mike enjoyed the many years they traveled to St. Petersburg, Florida during the winter where they participated in many shuffleboard leagues and tournaments. She could always be found lending a helping hand to whoever needed it. Peg helped with most events at her local church, Scottsburg United Methodist Church Parkey's Lounge, and the rec hall in Florida. Peg was energetic, confident and determined. She could light up the room and make everyone laugh with her fiery personality. She was a one-of-a-kind woman, who was bold and stood out from the crowd. She will be greatly missed by all. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. Online memorials may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
