Dansville – Rosemary "Rosie" Elizabeth Alexander age 98, passed away peacefully Sunday morning August 11, 2024, surrounded by her family in Dansville. She was born in Dansville, on February 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Lang) Sahrle. She was also predeceased by her brother Richard (Gerda) Sahrle, a sister-in-law Patricia Sahrle, and brother's in-law, Charles Lomler, and Donald Witherell. On May 15, 1965, she was married to Frank W. Alexander who survives. Alongside her husband Frank, she co-owned and operated Alexander's Tree Farm for 54 years. Rosie was a talented wreath maker, store manager, and ensured the farm's success. She held a master's degree in English literature from Hartwick College and taught High School English before a 36-year career at F.A. Owens Publishing, rising to editorial staff manager. Rosie loved reading, was a founding member of the Dansville Lioness Club, and a Who's Who of America inductee. She was actively involved in St. Paul's Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Rosie cherished her daily 5 pm moments with Frank, sharing a Manhattan and discussing the day's events. Her legacy will be deeply missed. Surviving in addition her loving husband of fifty-nine years Frank, their son, Frank (Jaimie Oliva) Alexander III, grandchildren, Cassie (Shaun) Gilbert, Noelle Alexander, a great-grandchild, Annabelle Gilbert, sisters, Carolyn Witherell, Doris Lomler, brother David Sahrle, and several nieces and nephews.
