Dansville – Carrie (Wyant) Burger age 80, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning August 6, 2024, at Elderwood at Hornell. She was born in the Town of Canisteo on March 22, 1944, a daughter of the late Harland and Helen (Ferris) Wyant. She was also predeceased by her husband Dwight G. Burger Sr., a son Dwight Jr., her sister, Dorothy (Victor) Pyer, bothers, Donald (Phyllis), Herbert (Marg), Harley, Art, and Kenneth (Audry) Wyant. On August 19, 1961, she was married to Dwight G. Burger Sr. Carrie, also known as Mom, Ma, Grams, Grammie, Great Grams, enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the glory of hummingbirds, reading books, and watching old western shows. After she and Dwight raised their three children, they moved back to the house that Dwight was born in, The Burger Tree Farm. Over the years on the farm, Carrie and Dwight raised beef cattle and ostriches. This is where she spent a lot of her time after retiring from owning and managing C&G Country store. That store was one of her many prides and joys, she loved making fresh donuts and seeing all the kids coming in to enjoy her cooking and the candy options on the shelves. After retiring from C&G Country Store, she finished her career at Tractor Supply Co, in Dansville NY. She was proud to be the only women at the time who passed the forklift test and would offload the semis. She spent many years attending her granddaughter, Jessica's horse shows and her grandson Ryan's baseball games. When she was able to, she enjoyed traveling to NC to see her daughter Karen and granddaughter Danielle, where they spent a lot of time making memories playing games and cooking delicious foods. Carrie was blessed with being able to enjoy time with her great grandkids, Kyle, Kollin and Addisyn. They always made her laugh by telling jokes and all sorts of stories about the pranks they played on their dad and grandpa. She was always amazed at how much Addisyn liked to bounce on her knee and screech at her, it always made her smile. Surviving in addition to her dear daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Harvey of Dansville, and Karen LaFevers (Mark Holman) of Hudson, North Carolina; is her sister Annie, brother Merle Wyant; three grandchildren, Ryan (Bethany Wise) Harvey, Jessica (Ryan) Backus and Danielle LaFevers, three great-children, Kyle and Kollin Harvey and Addisyn Backus; and many nieces and nephews.
