Obituary of Claude F. Kiefer

He was born in South Dansville, on February 23, 1915, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Conrad) Kiefer. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Lorma Little Kiefer in 1981 and Shirley Thompson Kiefer in 1997, and siblings, Eloise Catie Kinney and Harold Kiefer. Claude was a machinist at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville for thirty five years retiring in 1977. He was a fifty-seven year member and past captain of the Fearless Hook and Ladder Company of the Dansville volunteer fire dept. He was a member of the Livingston County volunteer firemans association and the WNYVFA, the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130, the IAM and twenty-five year club at Foster Wheeler, the Sunshine Circle at the Kings Daughters and Sons Home, and a life member of the Dansville Fish and Game Club. Claude liked to tinker on projects that friends and neighbors brought him to repair or fabricate new parts to make them better than the original design. He was affectionately known as Mr. Fix It around the neighborhood and the Kings Daughters Home. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Lowman of Dansville, Beverly (Carlton) Hogan of Geneseo; step-children Marcia (Frank) Mangiavellano of Webster and William Thompson of Canandaigua. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held at Wednesday at 11:00am. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery South Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Dansville Ambulance Fund, PO Box 235, The Kings Daughters and Sons Home, 26 Health St., both of Dansville, NY 14437 or Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt.
