Dansville- Norma M. Maltby age 94, went into the arms of Jesus early Saturday morning June 29, 2024, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born on Leonard St., in Dansville on September 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Bernhardt 'Ben' and Mildred 'Millie' (McCartney) Lang. On August 12, 1950, she was married to Gerrard 'Bud' Maltby who predeceased her on February 9, 2018. She was also predeceased by a son Kevin, an infant son James and a brother Donald Lang. Norma and her husband 'Bud' were charter members of Grace Baptist Church. Norma organized and tended the Missionary Cupboard, a blessing to many of our missionaries. She and Bud even made a mission trip to Ghana, Africa. They served as faithful caretakers of the church property for over 30 years. Norma oversaw the Tract Ministry, selecting and displaying tracts that pointed people to Jesus Christ. Norma and Bud hosted Small Groups in their home for many years, and she also served in the Summer Sports activities at church each week for a period of time. Norma was also instrumental in getting a handicap chair lift installed at church. Her latest ministry was that of a Greeter. She really enjoyed being seated at the front door of the church each Sunday morning zealously waiting to greet each person who entered for worship. She gave them a big hug, a handshake, and a beautiful smile as they came into the church. She loved being our Greeter. She was formerly employed at Geneseo State College in the Letchworth dining hall. During her free time she enjoyed camping, crafts and gardening. Norma will always be fondly remembered for her harmonica playing, her jokes and her homemade pies. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen 'Kathy' Maltby, Karen (Gary) Campbell, a daughter in-law, Janeene 'Anne' Maltby, eight grandchildren, Jodi Campbell, Rachel Sovocool, Jonathan (Jane) Campbell, Maria Campbell, Emily Campbell and Benjamin (Tracie) Campbell, Lindsey Kowal, Gregory Maltby, and six great-grandchildren.; a sister Carol (Donald) Quibell, and a brother Berhardt 'Bud' (Dorothy) Lang, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
