Obituary of Daniel Jeffrey Stone

Dansville- Daniel Jeffrey Stone "Stoney" age 62, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening January 26, 2024, at his home in Dansville. He was born in Dansville on November 26, 1961, a son of Thomas and Ruth (Shaver) Stone. He was predeceased by his father Tom and sister Linda. Dan retired from Finger Lakes DDSO after 30 years of service in the year 2018. His time there he worked with countless people with disabilities, and he truly loved his job. Dan was an all-around great guy; it did not matter to him how long it had been since he had last seen you, for he would talk your ear off like it had only been a day. In his spare time Dan liked to fish, hunt, build, garden (basically anything outdoors), and cook and bake, which he gladly shared with anyone he could. Outside of hobbies and work, Dan was one of the most generous people, always offering to help anyone that needed it. He is known for his great sense of humor and his loud boisterous voice that never failed to have people notice him. He is survived by his son Trevor Stone of Buffalo, his mother Ruth Stone of Dansville, a brother Gerald "Rick" (Nancy) of Farmington. In addition, he is survived by his many lifelong friends that he could rely on in any moment of need. At Dan's request a celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 10th, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm, at the Upper Dansville Fish and Game Club (Gibson Street, Dansville NY, 14437). The family asks that you wear a flannel or San Francisco 49ers colors. If you wish, please bring a dish to pass for the celebration, because Dan could never say no to a potluck.
