I had the pleasure of meeting Karen as she cleaned buildings. I am in Blake A, and she would rotate through with the other cleaners. I would also see her on campus at the other buildings since I worked afternoons. She was always friendly and we spoke about many things from work to children, beginning with my appearance in 2012 until her retirement. I am saddened to find out about her passing. Know that she is with you always, in spirit, pictures and memories. My deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to all.

I worked with Karen at SUNY Geneseo for many years. My co-worker and I would take our lunchtime and walk through the buildings and often run into Karen. Karen wasn't the kind of person who nodded, said "hi", and moved on. Karen made you feel like a true friend and colleague. She stopped just for a minute or two to ask how your day was. She was generous in nature and always willing to collaborate. Karen truly cared about what she did at Geneseo. She cared deeply about her work and most importantly the students, faculty and staff. She always asked me how I was doing and how my family was doing. She was a genuine, heartfelt person and I loved to see her smiling face and hear her infectious laugh. I am truly sad to hear of her passing. She was a gem; she was one in a million. Rest in peace dear friend.
