When I was little I was playing hide and seek with my siblings and I was getting upset because I couldn’t find a spot, but grandpa noticed and had me hide under his blanket hidden by his big morning news papers. I won that game of hide and seek.

When i was younger i was upset because i couldn’t find a hiding spot when playing hide and seek with my siblings, grandpa noticed and let me sit in his lap under a blanket hiding behind his big news paper. I won that game of hide and seek. I love and miss you grandpa❤️

We will miss Dick in so many ways. The conversation, laughs, good food and cold beer. Visits ya'll made to North Carolina and of course the Glen. I am blessed to have all the memories with Dick and Lee from over the years. I will see you again on the other side my old friend.

Dick you will be so missed and already were at Watkins Glen. 20 plus years of memories and fun. You made the best deep fried turkey for our traditional Thanksgiving at The Glen which brought us all together as a family. Many laughs to be had by all. Rest easy our friend.

In 1992 the Rider family generously opened up their home for me when I stayed with them as an foreign exchange student. I became a part of their wonderful family!
The first time we met was in 1988 when me and my family came for a visit since my Swedish mom Ann-Marie wanted to meet her American pen pal Lee Ann since they went in fifth grade. This was such a great experience, to stay with an American family. That lead to my wish to be an exchange student and we asked Lee and Dick if I could stay with them. During that year I had many new and exciting experiences. I especially remember that Dick let me ride with him on his Harely Davidson! We also met this summer when I brought my husband Roger and our children Erik and Linnéa to see my American family. To finally be able to let my two families get together was a dream come true!
I’m so grateful to have met Richard, a generous, loving and kind man! My American dad. I’m so thankful for the year you gave me and that I became your Swedish daughter.
With love, Lillian

Another example of Dick Riders vast imagination-Thanksgiving at Watkins Glen in mid August for nascar racing weekend. He made a mean deep fried turkey!

I met Rich in 2018 here at a campground in Florida, he was so generous with his time, he helped me build a deck for my RV and I always looked forward to
Him and Lee Ann coming each winter, their dogs first Maggie then Emma would play with my dogs Houston and then Dallas. You will be missed old friend. RIP Amigo.

I've known Dick from 7th grade. We use to hang out with all our friends in high school and parties at the Yorks. There was the Knotty Pine, Rawlings, Villager, Purple Pig, Varsity Inn, and last..but not least..our Sr Bash Party at Poags Hole.
Rest in peace and while you are up there
.stop disagreeing with Marty..lol

My most cherished memory of Dick is from the night Dustin was born. Kevin and Terri, Lee and Mom were in the room while Terri was giving birth. April, Dick and I were in the hall, waiting with bated breath for some word. April and I were like 2 little girls, so excited and wanted to see so badly, so Dick told us we could peek around the corner. April and I peeked around the corner and were caught by a very tall and intimidating nurse, who told us to "get out". April and I went back to Dick, defeated. Dick said, "what happened?" We told him, and he was incensed and said, "well you go tell "Big Bertha"...I was laughing so hard I didn't even hear the rest of what he said. He stood up for us and that meant a lot to us both!
Dick and Lee have always been a part of my family circle since Terri and Kevin started dating, and Kevin and Brian, I have always considered brothers since then as well.
I'm happy that Dick is feeling no pain now, however, am so very sad that the world lost him, as he was a great person!
I Love you all very much, always!
