Sparta- Gary A. Ruliffson age 77, passed away late Sunday afternoon September 3, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a short illness. He was born in Rochester NY on April 12, 1946, a son of Allen and Marion (Thompson) Ruliffson. He was predeceased by his mother Marion, a grandson John Michael Monroe and siblings, Butch, Casey and Raybo. On June 29, 1963, he was married in Geneseo NY to the former Gail Foster Ruliffson. Gary was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, and fishing. He was a charter boat Captain in Key West and on Lake Ontario for many years. He was a construction foreman of Sealand Construction in Rochester until his retirement. Surviving in addition to his wife Gail, are his children, Karen (Phillip) Petzold, Sharon Monroe, and Kevin (Patty) Ruliffson, his father Allen Ruliffson, grandchildren, Steven Abbey II,. Kaitlyn Monroe, Jennifer Ruliffson, and Jessica (Ernesto) Ruliffson-Barbieri, a great grandchild, Gail’s family Jack (Irene) Foster, Richard (Sue) Foster and Kathy (Pete) Gaffney. and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family, Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the family to use at their discretion.
