Dansville Mary Kathryn Hammond age 97, passed away late Saturday evening August 26, 2023, at the Jewish Home of Rochester, where she had been a resident for the past several years.

She was born in Ithaca NY on May 2, 1926, a daughter of the late Edward and Susan (Bride) Conley. On December 2, 1950, she was married to John C. Hammond, who predeceased her on February 3, 2005. She was also predeceased by two brothers Paul and Patrick Conley, a daughter in-law Jolie Hammond, two sons-in-law Michael Vang and Mark Stevens.

Mary Kay was a former Nursing Supervisor at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville where she exemplified the professionalism of a nurse. As a Registered Nurse she volunteered countless hours working blood drives, flu clinics, and blood pressure screenings and the Dansville Community Food Pantry. She was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, yard work and having coffee with her friends. Mary Kay was the last surviving member of the Class of 1947 from St. Joseph's School of Nursing.

She is survived by six children, Patricia (Thomas) Wood, Michael (Betty) Hammond, Susan Vang, Cathleen Stevens, Joanne (Bruce) Hunter and Thomas Hammond; a sister Mary Elizabeth Keating; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday (August 31) at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment with be next to her husband John in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
