Dansville- Richard "Dick" Alvin Campbell age 82, passed away Tuesday afternoon July 25, 2023, at the Vincent house in Wayland.

He was born in Dansville, on October 7, 1940, a son of the late Alvin and Doris (Rex) Campbell. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Melanie Lynn Brockington (Campbell); a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Ken Brewer; and a nephew, Lonnie Brewer. On Oct 16, 1976, he was married to Rebecca "Becky" (Baker) Campbell who survives.

Dick was a music man, he could play many instruments. Those include harmonica, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle to name a few. He hand built a few of his own instruments, including a ten stringed instrument based on an instrument from the Bible. He loved to tinker on stuff around the house, read or watch westerns on tv. He was an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were a few of his favorites. Dick and Becky were longtime members of the Dansville Free Methodist Church. He retired from SUNY Geneseo as a Janitor, and loved the extra time he had after retirement.

In addition to his loving wife of 46 years Becky, he is survived by their children, Joshua (Kristin), Jacob (Laurie), Nate (Katrina) Campbell, a son in-law, Larry (Terri) Brockington, eight grandchildren (Andy, Carl, Ellie, Will, Lillia, Clayton, Duncan, and Peter) sisters, Harriet (Butch) Thompson, Alissa (Eric) Carlson, Nancy (James) Wagner, a brother, Gary (Karen) Campbell, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his son Richard "Rikk" A. Campbell (Heather), and grandsons (Jeremy and Dylan). He was well loved and had many unofficial children that called him Dad.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Dansville Free Methodist Church on August 2nd at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
