Dansville- Patricia J. "Patty" Moonen age 67, passed away Friday morning June 23, 2023, from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile bicycle accident in the Town of Sparta.

She was born in Omaha, NB on July 26, 1955, a daughter of the late Charles and Ann Marie (Meade) Moonen. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Bob Moonen and Cathie Osborn.

Patty was a light to all that knew her. She was a complete badass that loved her family and friends unconditionally, and was the most inspirational, dependable, and selfless person. She had a zest for life, fitness, and adventure. On any given day you could find her hiking, biking, rowing, getting swole in her sweet home gym or with her gym family at the Dansville Fitness Club. She loved people and the positive side of life, sharing it with everyone that had the joy of knowing her. If you were lucky enough, she'd even give you a rowing lesson at the Dansville YMCA where she worked part-time and was able to share her love of fitness with her community. She was formerly employed for the NYSDOT as the first female highway maintenance supervisor while finishing her master's at SUNY Geneseo. Patty retired from the Dansville Central School where she touched many lives as a special education teacher. In retirement, her favorite and most important role was being "Oma" to her granddaughters. She will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her two daughters which she cherished immensely, Karen (Mark) Specchio, and Katie (Willie McIntosh) Gartz, her dear granddaughters, Briana, Ophelia, Piper and Eloise; a sister Karen Ruiz, three brothers, Rick (Roni) Moonen, Chuck (Mary) Moonen and Tony (Helen) Moonen, Karen and Katie's father Paul (Debbie VanDuzer) Finewood, Debbie VanDuzer's daughters Jen (Josh) Kerns and Becca VanDuzer, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In keeping with Patty's love of the outdoors and functional fitness, a memorial celebration of life will be held at the South High Banks pavilion in Letchworth State Park on July 26, 2023, from 4:00-8:00PM.
