Wayland-Larry Joseph Murphy, age 81 passed away Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2023, at the Vincent house in Wayland.
He was born in Dansville, NY on September 13, 1941, a son of the late Chester and Palma (Seitler) Murphy. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Donald, and Thomas Murphy. On November 23, 1996, he was wed to Shirley (Wampole, Simcox) Murphy who survives.
Larry owned and operated the Wayland Radio store for many years across from the school. He was a licensed electrician and worked for General Electric in Rochester as well as Harris Electric. He was the operator for Air Page, Wayland's emergency broadcast signal service. Larry honorably served his county in the Navy from 1960 to 1964.
In addition to his wife Shirley are his children, Annette (Robert) Elliot, Pam (John) Talbot, Kim Murphy, Shirley's daughter Sheila (Dave Marble) Tomczak, grandchildren, Charlie Richardson, Daniel and David Elliot, Sarah (Reese) Resnick, John (Cieara) Tomczak, Heather Hardy, , great-grandchildren, Emily, Asher Resncik , Zoey Marie Laugh, Raelynn Grace Hardy, and Haylee Ida Nicole Marble, a nephew John (Denise) Drum.
A private burial was held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY 14437. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
