Dansville- Richard (Dick) E. Jones, 97, of Dansville, NY passed away on January 23, 2023. He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Louise, son William (Bill), grandson Sam, sister Margaret Biek and brother Burnett (Doc) Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Carol, grandson Paul, daughter-in-law, Geri McCormick, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was born in Cohocton, NY on December 5, 1925, son of Monroe and Mildred Jones. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Army 320th Infantry in Germany. A member of the Phoenix Lodge of the F&AM and Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion of Dansville. Always an avid classical music, ballet and opera lover, he also enjoyed wood working making many beautiful Windsor chairs.

He was retired from Dansville Press (FA Owen) as paper cutter where he worked after returning from his service in World War II. After retiring, he was Dansville's handyman trimming bushes, washing windows and painting porches. He also delivered Meals-on-wheels for many years, supported the local food cupboard by picking up donations from Tops and rang the Salvation Army bell at Christmas time at Tops. He was well known for riding his bike around Dansville.

Family and friends may call on February 4, 2023, at Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main Street Dansville, NY from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours, with the Rev. Tedd Pullano officiating. Burial will be at Mapleview Cemetery.
