Obituary of Geri Beth White

Wayland- Geri (Beth) White passed away peacefully surrounded by family and her beloved pets at her home on Monday, January 16, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Geri Beth Ellinwood in Brockport, NY on August 14th, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Marlene Ellinwood. Beth had a wonderful childhood surrounded by many siblings. Surviving siblings include Megan Ellinwood, Laurie Parnell, Jennifer Nicometo, Jeffrey Ellinwood and Peter Ellinwood. She spent most of her early academic career at Caledonia Mumford School in Caledonia, NY. She then went on to attend Nazareth College where she majored in Social Work. Beth worked locally for many years, as a social worker, realtor and florist. Beth was passionate about helping those in need whether human or animal and always with a soft smile and calming demeanor. Though, she most enjoyed her time in the greenhouses, she also had a love for the curiosity and humor that her preschool students brought her. Beth loved spending time with her family and friends, with her animals, in the garden and volunteering. She also was an avid equestrian. Those who knew Beth, knew how generous she was with her time and resources for all of her family and friends, but she also enjoyed volunteering at local equestrian events and in the gardens at Sonnenberg. She was a true animal lover and cared for her pets including horses, dogs, and cats. Beth is survived by her loving husband John and daughters Heather Fox and her husband Jeffery Fox of Cohocton, NY, her daughter Holly White-Baumhover and her husband Kevin Baumhover of Lexington, KY. She is also survived by her four wonderful grandchildren Coreena Carey (Daniel), Courtney Costello (Kevin), Jeffrey Fox Jr. and Chloe Fox in addition to her two great-grandchildren Lincoln Carey and Nolan Costello. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 1 pm at the First Garwood's United Methodist Church, 10524 Co Rd. 15B, Canaseraga, NY 14822. Arrangements by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY 14437. A reception for friends and family to gather will follow the service. In keeping with Beth's love for all things green or furry, the family asks for donations of flowers or plants as they were her favorite, or in lieu of flowers to please consider donations in Beth's name be made to the Grayson Jockey Club Research Foundation (a horse health organization) 821 Corporate Drive Lexington KY 40503 or The Barn Cat Outreach (an abandoned cat-spay/neuter and rehoming organization) at PO Box 11 Springwater, NY 14560.
