Obituary of Eileen Josephine Kenney

She was born in Dansville, on July 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Sidney C. and Ina M. Wampole Howe. On September 26, 1942, she was married to Russell J. Kenney who survives. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Todd Kenney, a daughter in-law Kathy Kenney, and siblings Sidney, Dorr and James Howe, Evelyn Horton and Rita Deck. Eileen and Russell operated a Nationwide Insurance Agency out of their home on Maple St. for many years. Eileen enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her favorite son Brian. Surviving in addition to her husband, Russ, are three sons; Bruce (Gene) Kenney, Brian Kenney both of Dansville, and Barry (Monique Johnson) Kenney of Avoca, twin daughters; Kim (Ellen Bonjorno) Kenney of Dansville, and Kay (Alan) Fisher of Wayland, a brother Leo (Betty) Howe of Leesburg, FL, sisters- in-law, Elizabeth Betty Howe, Mildred Howe and Doris Campbell all of Dansville, 14 grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday in the West Sparta United Methodist Church, with her grandson, Pastor Michael Kenney and Rev. Burton Smith officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Sparta. Eileens family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Patricia Berkes and the entire staff at the Livingston County CNR for the exceptional care given to Eileen during her time at the facility.
