Homer Leon Jones Obituary

He was born in Almond, on April 15, 1923, a son of the late Orlo Dewey and Hazel Margaret Hammond Jones. On August 5, 1961, he was married to Alice Beil Jones, who survives. He was also predeceased by a son Arthur Jones, and siblings, Harriett Naumilket, Zada Perry, Harold, and Howard Jones.


Homer was a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, the Phoenix Lodge # 115 of the F&AM, Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130, the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion, and a social member of the Fearless Hook & Ladder and Jackson Hose Companies all of Dansville. He was a life member of the Hornell Post # 2250 of the VFW.


Homer was a truck driver for almost forty-four years, driving for thirty years for Owens Brothers Trucking in Dansville, and Covered Wagon Train of Hornell for fourteen years. He was also the shipping clerk at Hornell Woodworking. He was a US ARMY WWII veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge and Rhineland.


Surviving in addition to his dear wife Alice, are two sons; Randy (Jerriane) Jones, and Raymond (Linda) Jones both of Avoca; a brother, Hugh (Betty) Jones of Avoca and a sister Hildreth (James) Hammond of Corey, PA, eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



Friends may call Thursday 7 9 and Friday from 2 4 & 7 9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am with the Rev. James Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville.
