Dansville – Carol S. Welcher age 96, passed away unexpectedly late Saturday evening April 16, 2022, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born in Rochester on December 17, 1925, a daughter of the late Howard and Gladys (Porter) Sherman. On January 25, 1947, she was married to Jack Welcher, who predeceased her on June 29, 2006. She was also predeceased by two sisters Jane Welcher and Ann Leggett. Carol was active in the community being a member of the Dansville Lioness Club, Woman's Civic Club, Lions Club Minstrel Show Chorus, Dansville United Methodist Church and a long-time volunteer at the Dansville Public Library. Carol and Jack enjoyed many cruises throughout the world after their retirement. She had also worked in the billing office for Tri-County Family Medicine, and Noyes Memorial Hospital. Carol is survived by two daughters, Nancy (John) Goodspeed of Palmyra and Jean (James) Hanas of Colorado; a son Dan (Linda Howard) Welcher of Texas; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 2, 2022 at 11:00am at the Dansville United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
