Melvin Ray Garrett 73, of County Road 46, died unexpectedly following surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester on Sunday, May 18, 2008.
Born the son of Fred and Frostina Morrow Garrett in Murphy, NC he wed Joyce Dyer Garrett on May 18, 1955 in Avoca, who survives.
Melvin was a lineman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers out of Syracuse for 55 years.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife Joyce are 2 sons, William (Carol) Garrett and Melvin Garrett both of Dansville. Four daughters, Cindy (Tony) Brookshire and Terry (Walter) Verhine both of GA, Margaret (Brian) Bies of SD and Robin Garrett of Dansville. Eleven grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren a brother, John Taylor of IL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son David on May 3, 2007, and his siblings James Taylor and Jewel Hensley.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
