Obituary of Freddie Lee Howell

He was born in Bainbridge Georgia, on March 6, 1952, a son of Walter and Mildred Howell. On October 11, 1984, he was married to Karen Howell (Van Winkle) who survives. He was also predeceased by his father Walter Howell. Fred was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam and as a recruiter in Dansville, Mt. Morris and Minot North Dakota from where he retired in 1991. He was currently a developmental aid at the Jefferson Street IRA in Dansville. He was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion, the Frank J. Casbolt Post # 6780 of the VFW and the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. He was a member of the Dansville Ambulance Company for many years where he had responded over a thousand calls. Fred was a story teller, a good neighbor, a good husband, father, grandfather, and a true friend to many. If he could have had any wish it would most likely to have been, to take someone out on his boat and have them catch a large mouth bass. He is survived by his wife, Karen Howell, his mother, Mildred Howell of GA, seven children, Joseph (Shirley) Cox, of Dansville, Twila Howell, of FL, Jason (Mekka) Cox, of Dansville, Tabitha (Jose) Howell, of FL, Albert David (Ella) Howell, of Germany, Daniel (Jessie) Howell, of Sparta, and Cassie (Kevin) Gunderson, of Dansville, a brother Wallace (Rhonda) Howell , two sisters, Judy (Guan) Garrison, GA and Joan (Greg) Broxton, all of GA. Eleven grandchildren, Kirsten, Kody, Kasey, Brendan, Conner, Brett, Benny, Elizabeth, Morgan, Kylee, and soon to be born Allison, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends may call Sunday 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Ave. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Dansville Ambulance Fund, PO Box 235, Dansville, NY 14437 or the Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510 or a charity of choice.
