Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Remembering Carolyn Rauber Hitchcock: A Life of Music, Love, and Laughter Our mom, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend is home. Home to God, home to her husband, home to her parents, home to her beloved Dansville. Carolyn Rauber Hitchcock, age 85, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on Saturday evening, August 19, 2023, at St.James Hospital in Hornell. Carolyn was born in Dansville on January 5, 1938, to the late Wilfred and Mildred (Dunne) Rauber. She attended the old St. Mary's School on Elizabeth Street before graduating from Danville Central High School in 1956. An amazing piano and organ player, Carolyn shared her talent with the parishioners of St. Mary's Church in Dansville, Sacred Heart in Perkinsville, St. Peter's in Wayland and with guests at Old Madrid Restaurant. Carolyn was proud to call Dansville home. Whether you were an old friend, new friend or a customer in line at Tops Market, you were always greeted with a warm welcome and smile as she rang up your groceries. She spent many years volunteering at Noyes Hospital, working on Balloonfest and entertaining us in the Minstrel Show. She truly was a daughter of Dansville. Aside from her delicious cheese potatoes, she will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around her. We take comfort knowing she is at peace, reunited and free to walk hand in hand with her husband who patiently waited years for her to join him. Carolyn is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert W. Hitchcock, brothers John, Jim, Jerry Rauber (Marilyn), and brother-in-law Eddie Ehrementraut Sr. She is survived by her children Robert G. Hitchcock (Kelly), LeAnne Hitchcock LaChausse (Jeffrey), and Kathryn "Casey" Hitchcock. Sisters Margaret Rauber and Mary Ann Ehrementraut. Grandchildren Ashley Hitchcock Buchanan (Victor), Robert A. Hitchcock (Ciara), Andrew Mikiciuk, Allison Mikiciuk (Quentin) and Owen Fredericy (Gabby). Great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Sawyer Buchanan, Capen Fredericy and Brooklyn Saddler. Sister-in-law Carolyn Flannery Rauber. Several nieces and nephews.
