Ossian- Donald Patrick Rawleigh, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 15, 2023, at his home of 61 years with family by his side. He was born March 17, 1933, a son to the late Ira & Margaret (Wilkins) Rawleigh. He was predeceased by his wife Mary "Bette" (Gibson) Rawleigh of 63 years and brother, Gerald Rawleigh. Don loved the outdoors, motorcycles, tinkering on old equipment and the peace and quiet of the farm. He will be remembered by many as Uncle Donnie, the husband of Aunt Bette who fed and raised multiple children in the Ossian and Dansville community. He served in the US Army 78th Combat Engineers Battalion in Germany from July 1956-July 1958 before moving to the family farm in 1962. He retired from Foster Wheeler after 47 years, then worked for the Ossian Highway Department for ten years. He is survived by his daughter, Natalie (Jim) Welch, his grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Miller, Jimmy (Shelby) Welch, his great-grandchildren, Laini and Greta Miller, Remington, Lennox, and Callahan Welch. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Sleight of Arizona and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral service will be held on Friday August 18th 11am at the Ossian Presbyterian Church. Interment next to "Bette" with Full Military Honors will be held in Ossian Center Cemetery. Arrangements by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ossian Presbyterian Church (4817 Ossian Hill Road) or the Dansville Public Library (200 Main Street) for audio and large print books.
