Obituary of Shirley Miller McDaniel

Dansville- Shirley A. (Miller) McDaniel age 94, passed away early Wednesday morning November 6, 2019, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where she had been a short time resident.

She was born in the Town of Yorkshire NY on March 26, 1925, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Smith. She was also predeceased by her first husband Louis Miller and her second husband Lewis McDaniel, and siblings Ruth Barber, Lyle Smith and Lynn Smith.

Shirley was a devoted member of the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women's Group. She was a telephone operator for the former Rochester Telephone for 28 years and a member of Local #1170 telephone Operator's Union. In her free time, she enjoyed ballroom dancing, watching the television program "Dancing with the Stars", knitting, reading, crocheting, golfing and listening to The Southern Tier Jazz Band.

She is survived by three sons, Greg (Patti) Miller, Douglas (Cindy) Miller, and Mark (Julia) Miller; step-children, Darrell (Donna) McDaniel, Sharon (William) Heard and Lois Smith; dear friends, Walt Mehlenbacher and Dianne Kinney, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday November 26 at 11:00 am at the Sparta Center United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
