Obituary of Richard John Lown
Dansville- Richard J. "Dick" Lown age 92, passed away early Thursday morning July 25, 2019, at the Vincent House in Wayland.
He was born in Dansville on January 26, 1927, a son of the late Earl and Grace Wambold Lown. He was also predeceased by his first wife Helen Wolfanger Lown, a son David and siblings Barbara Cramer and Keith Lown.
Dick was a US Army WWII veteran. He was a member and past Commander of Clifford Orcutt Post of The American Legion formerly of Scottsburg. He was a current member of the Daniel Goho Post #87 of The American Legion of Dansville. He was a charter member of the Sparta Center Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. Dick and Helen owned and operated Lown's Feed Service in Avon for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his dear wife Irene Wirth Lown of Dansville, two daughters, Sandy (Paul) Black, Lynn (Jeff) Tracy, both of Dansville, a son, Rodney (Vicki) Lown of Geneseo. Irene's children Jane (Dean) Bourgoine of Wayland and John T. (Cindy) Wilson of Canandaigua; a brother Willard Lown, ten grandchildren nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Union Cemetery in Scottsburg. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
