Obituary of Alice Marie Acomb
She was born in Dansville on September 13, 1926, a daughter of the late Dewey and Helena (Neis) Carey. On February 11, 1949, she was married to Richard “Bud” Acomb, who predeceased him on December 1, 1991. She was also predeceased by a son Peter Acomb.
Alice was a RN working for well-known area retired surgeon Dr Cho for many years. Alice was loving and giving person and very active in her nursing career even after retirement She was a home health care provider, a volunteer for blood pressure and other health screening clinics offered by Noyes Memorial Hospital. She was a Communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. A longtime board member of the Greenlawn Cemetery Association and a member of the former Ossian Grange. She was a loving and giving person to her family, neighbors and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie “Peach” (Elliott) Klass, three sons, William (Carol) Acomb, Dennis “Worm” (Brenda) Acomb and John “Jake” (Linda) Acomb; two brothers, Robert (Mary Jane) Carey and John (Carol) Carey. Eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Sisters in law of Dianne Acomb and Carolyn Sick.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Dansville.
