Obituary of Rev. Seymour Milo Gilbert

Sparta- Seymour Milo Gilbert age 97, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning July 12, 2018, at Elderwood in Hornell where he had been resident for the past few weeks.

He was born in the Town of Sparta, on August 20, 1920, a son of the late Milo William and Clara Marguerite Parsons Gilbert. He was also predeceased by his wife Martha Benchley Gilbert, three sisters Isabelle Mulley, Beatrice Swarts and Esidean Rawleigh.

Seymour was ordained as a Baptist Minister July 31, 1947 in Waverly NY. He went on to serve his Lord at the Tioga River Congregational Christian Conference for many years. He was the Pastor at the Wright's Corners Church of God on Carney Hollow Rd. in Sparta. He had attended the Berean Bible Church in Groveland. Seymour was an accomplished craftsman having been self-employed for many years as a cabinet maker.

He is survived by a brother Stanley Gilbert and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Monday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Berean Bible Church in Groveland Station, where services will follow. Interment will be in Lancaster Rural Cemetery, Lancaster NY. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
