I have many fond and funny memories of Jack. I've known him since I was about 4 years old when he began dating my mom and they married 8 years later. He did so much for me and mom growing up and we are forever grateful.
Jack was such a hard worker. Never took vacations and for a long time worked 7 days a week. He definitely had a working mans hands and I also remember him having this thumbs taped up from cuts.
Jack could seem grumpy - but if you knew him, you'd know his bark was worse than his bite and he had a sense of humor. I remember one year, Jack, Mom and I walked to the Octoberfest from our home on Livingston Blvd. After we enjoyed the festivities and Jack had some German beer, we began walking back home. I was joking around with Jack and asked if he wanted to race. I was shocked when he started running. I still remember how it looked to this day.......his head and shoulders seemed to be ahead of the rest of his body and his feet. As he was running, he tripped on a manhole and went tumbling in the rode. He put a nice cut on his forehead. We all laughed. After that, I used to pick on him and ask if he wanted to go jogging. Whenever I think of this, it makes me laugh.
It breaks my heart for all that Jack had to go through at the end of his life. But I know he's at peace, without pain, reunited with all of his family members and friends that left before him, as well as his sidekick Shannon. And I'm certain that he is enjoying a few cold Genny Cream Ales. Love you Jack.

My wedding day before he gave me away. I think this is the only time I ever saw him in a suit.

To all of the Family of “Jack”
Coming to Dansville in the 1960’s I met Jack at Lemen’s service station on Clara Barton St. across from the Town Hall. Then Jack often worked with his brother Bill and when you went to their business for repair work, ice or fuel it was often that you would get double teamed by the Lemen boys. It wa all good fun and we joked often about those days. Both Jack and Bill helped us on many occasions with problems with our vehicles and many times with cooling ice for parties. We felt welcomed into the community by these enterprising business men and their easy going ways. In later years Jack and I would talk as he picked up his lotto tickets at Tops market. He always kept his easygoing sense of humor.

My thoughts and prays are with the family during this difficult time.... Jack and I met when I worked at tops he would come in everyone morning for his take five tickets let’s be honest anyone that knew jack knew he was a “grumpy old man “ but when you could get him to crack a smile it was worth all the work it took to get it.over time I looked forward to my morning chats with him making sure I kept them short so he could be home in time for jerry springer ...I’ll always cherish the memories I shared with him.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Jack’s family. I have missed seeing Jack for many weeks, but there is no more pain, no more suffering. Hopefully now Jack only wears that goofy grin he started blessing me with the last few months I saw him. You will truly be missed Jack.
