Obituary of Marvin L. Dixon
Dansville Marvin Dixon age 79, passed away late Monday afternoon August 28, 2017 at home following a long illness.
He was born in Denison, Iowa, on December 26, 1937 a son of the late Vernon and Katherine (Bernhard) Dixon. On October 15, 1960, he was married to Mary Ann Layno Dixon, who predeceased him on September 1, 2011. He was also predeceased by siblings, Delores, Lois, and Charles Dixon and Laverne Randolph..
He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving from 1957 to 1959.Marv was an accountant at the Gunlocke Chair Company in Wayland for many years. He and Mary Ann owned and operated the Potpourri Card and Gift Shop in Dansville until their retirement on 2001.
Active in his community Marv was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. A member of the Dansville Lions Club, serving on the Board of Directors, and was recognized as a Career Lion, Lion of the Year and having achieved perfect attendance for thirty-three years. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and Relay for Life. He enjoyed playing sports and watching his granddaughter and seven grandsons participating in their in school and out of school activities.
He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Angela (Terry) Conway, Barbara (Rob) Stone and Christina (Mark) Reeves, a granddaughter, Sidney Stone; seven grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, Andrew and Kevin Conway, Hunter and Brody Stone, Noah Reeves; a brother Richard (Nancy) Dixon, a sister Lila Jensen, a sister in-law Josephine (Dean) Henty, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 3 to 7 at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment with full military Honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
