Dansville- Catherine Marie Lieb, a longtime resident of Dansville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander D. Lieb, her parents, Anna and Frank Conrad, her brothers Franklin and William Conrad and her sister Margaret Zimmer.She is the mother of two daughters, Suzanne Marie Engel of Pittsford, NY and Sally L. May (Dr. and Mrs. Harry V. May) of Greenville, SC. She was the proud grandmother of Dr. Bryan Vincent May and his wife Mandy, and Dr. Keith May and his wife Lora. She was great-grandmother to Andrew, Alexandra, and William and an aunt to several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice "Petie" Hoffman of Dansville.Catherine was a lifelong communicant of the Holy Family Parish at St. Mary's Church in Dansville, an active member of the Christian Mother's Society, and the Rosary Society. She was also a high-school religious education teacher for several years. Because of their loving concern, she and her sister Beatrice provided, planted and cared for the flowers at the front of the church and rectory for many years. Before her retirement she was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Dansville, a school tax collector; secretary of the Dansville Girl Scout Council, and a volunteer in the "Spice Box Gift Shop" at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. A private service was held for the immediate family on Monday September 21, at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Interment was next to her husband Alexander in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
