Ossian- Michael R. Derrenbacher age 73, passed away early Monday morning August 31, 2026, at the Teresa House in Geneseo.

He was born in Hornell on May 26, 1953, a son of the late Richard Edward and Jane (Holden) Derrenbacher.

Mike was a former truck driver for Derrenbacher Trucking and retired from the Town of Ossian as Highway Superintendent in 2015. Mike was very active with the Dansville Fish and Game Club for many years. He held various positions on the Board of Directors and oversaw the skeet and trap shooting activities. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being in the field.

He is survived by his wife Maxine (Gilbert) Derrenbacher, two sons Richard (Jill) Derrenbacher and Travis Derrenbacher; three grandchildren Haley (Nate) Kelly, Hunter Derrenbacher and Mikayla McCuthen; two brothers John (Joanne) Derrenbacher and Edward "Farmer" (Jenny) Derrenbacher, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday September 8 from 2 to 5pm at the Dansville Fish and Game Club. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. Interment will be in Ossian Cemetery, Ossian. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
