Sparta — Marilynn E. Rider, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 9, 2026, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mount Morris, following a brief illness.

She was born in Queens on July 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Clifford and Edith (McArdle) Masten.Marilynn was preceded in death by her son, Michael Izworski, and her brother-in-law, Henry Burk.

Marilynn built a full and meaningful life marked by hard work, kindness, and fun. She worked in personnel at Case Hoyte then as a banker in downtown Rochester for several years before transitioning to work as a law secretary in Lakeville.She enjoyed reading and crafting and had so many hobbies and interests. She had a great eye for decorating and was an artist who loved painting. She golfed, played tennis, and loved to watch the Bills and NASCAR races. Carol Anne and Adrienne would tease their mom mercilessly about her Jell-O mold creations, which became a family joke and a cherished tradition. Marilynn also had a great sense of humor and loved pranks. She brought laughter and joy to everyone around her. Marilynn had a big personality and a natural ability to connect with people. Wherever she went, she made friends. She cherished family traditions, especially Christmas, and the time spent together with those she loved.

Surviving Marilynn are her husband, Gerald Rider; her children, Carol Anne (Jerry) Wilkins, Christine, and Adrienne Delorm; her sister, Geri Burk; her granddaughter, Mary Hodge; her nieces; and many other loving family members and friends.
