Dansville – Shirley Wise, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Noyes Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Shirley dedicated more than 20 years of service as a dietitian at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was also a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dansville.

Shirley was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, Edward; her parents, Thomas and Katherine O'Herron; and her siblings, Susan O'Herron Babcock and Danny O'Herron. She is survived by her children, Katie (Frank) Cassetta, Lauri (Kevin) Bernstein, John (Wendi) Wise, and Shelly (Marcy Fenton) Wise; her grandchildren, Kayleigh (Nick) Terranova, Kelsey (Joe), Erinn (Brian) Duprey, Sean (Jenn) Bernstein, Bethany (Ryan) Harvey, and Thomas (Nicole Katsur) Wise; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved cat, Micki.

The family is especially grateful for Shirley's dear friend and neighbor, Teresa Russell, and her aide, Sue Gordon, whose kindness, friendship, and support allowed Shirley to remain in the comfort of her home until the end.

Above all else, Shirley cherished time spent with her family. She especially enjoyed wintering in Florida with Ed, where they created many wonderful memories and lasting friendships. A creative and talented woman, Shirley found joy in many crafts, particularly needlework and, later in life, painting. Her family treasures the many beautiful handmade gifts she lovingly created for them over the years.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Dansville. Online condolences and memories may be shared at HindleFuneralHome.com.

Rather than calling hours, all family and friends are welcome to celebrate Shirley's life at the funeral, cemetery and/ or at the Union Hose for a luncheon which will follow the cemetery services.
