Allen Ess, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Geneseo on Monday, May 5, 2026.

Born in Dansville on February 8, 1962, to the late Fred and Jean (Balcomb) Ess, Allen was known for his love of bowling, community activities, Pepsi and smoking his pipe. Allen enjoyed living at his group home, where he was well-loved and cared for by dedicated staff, and deeply valued the relationships he built with his friends.

Allen is survived by his brothers, Donald Ess and Carl (Darcy) Ess; his advocate and cousin, Beverley Camps; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., located at 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, with interment at Oaklawn West Sparta Cemetery.
