Canaseraga- David C. Ras age 86, passed away early Saturday evening March 21, 2026, after a short illness.

He was born in Rochester on July 6, 1939, the son of the late Jacob John and Helen Marguerite (Lay) Ras. On July 16, 1960, he married Juliann "Julie" Meskill Ras who survives.

Dave was US Air Force veteran serving from 1957 to 1961. He was a training supervisor for Dupont in Rochester. He was a Communicant of St. Mary's Church and former sexton for St. Mary's Cemetery in Canaseraga. He was a longtime member of the Canaseraga Lions Club where he was active with the SEE program screening schoolchildren's eyes for anomalies. He was a former Town of Burns Councilman, and a member of the Fawcett Post of The American Legion in Canaseraga. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife Julie are a daughter Tamera (John) Joensen, three sons Thomas (Brenda) Ras, Matthew (Karla) Ras and Daniel (Leslie) Ras, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., in Dansville. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 11:00 at St. Mary's Church in Canaseraga Interment with Full Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Canaseraga.
