Donald R. "Don" Carlini Obituary

Dansville- Donald R. Carlini age 76, passed away early Tuesday morning January 27, 2026, at the Livingston County CNR in Mt. Morris following a lengthy illness.


He was the youngest of two sons born to the late Raymond and Winifred (Jones) Carlini on September 13, 1949 in Dansville, NY.


Don was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a NYS Corrections officer serving in Bedford Hills, Attica and finally Groveland Correctional Facility in Sonyea, NY where he retired. He was a member of NYSCOPBA and the Sonyea Legion, and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Dansville. Don and Sue met while he was on leave from the Army at a party. Upon his return from the Army they were married. In 1972 they welcomed their son Chad. They were married for more than 50 years. In retirement, Don and Sue were active in the camping world. They worked in campgrounds in Florida and North Carolina. Don was the maintenance man and Sue worked in the office at Ebb Tide RV Park. He could be seen traveling around the campground with his 4 legged friend Hunter along for the ride in his golf cart. Don was easy to smile and was known by his friends for his sense of humor and practical jokes. He also had a fondness for the water whether it be parking cars for Key West Express in Ft. Myers, working at different marinas or active with Freedom Boat Club in Ft. Myers. He and Sue enjoyed shelling on Sanibel Causeway during the summer.


He is survived by his wife Susan Amico Carlini of Dansville, a son Chad (Tricia) Carlini of Bristol, a brother Robert (Norma) Carlini of Florida, a niece and nephew Heather and Michael, extended family members, and great friends Kenny Poddany, Cubby (Judy) Dunning along with Doug and Tina. as well as many fellow corrections officer colleagues.


Please join us as we gather to celebrate the life of Don Carlini, On May 15th at Levi Corser Park 6702 County Road 32 Canandaigua, NY 14424, 4:00pm. Hosted by his wife, Susan, along with his son Chad and daughter-in-law Trisha


Don loved the outdoors—whether it was time spent near the ocean, by a lake, or simply enjoying nature. He had a playful spirit and was always ready with a joke or a good-natured prank to make people laugh.


In his honor, we’ll be gathering in a relaxed, casual setting to share food, drinks, and the memories that made knowing him so special.


The gathering will be held at the park’s gazebo (fully enclosed in case of rain), and restrooms are available on site.


Please come as you are, bring a story or memory if you’d like, and help us celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and the outdoors.
