Dansville, NY - Mary Kay Arber, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.


Mary was born in Dansville on June 11, 1942, a daughter of the late John and Muriel (Rittenhouse) Green. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 35 years, Thomas Arber Sr.; siblings Anna Wyant, William “Billy” Green, Elizabeth “Betty” Streeter, John Green, Connie Green, James “Wilse” Green, Joanne “Mabel” Daley, and Lafayette “Mike” Green.


Mary worked as a realtor for Century 21 Realty in Bath, NY for most of her career, which started with her love of galivanting around the countryside looking at old houses and her interest in interior decorating. She was a long-time member of the Sparta UMC women’s group. She loved playing golf every opportunity she had and was active in several leagues. Mary loved traveling with her family and had many adventures. She enjoyed gardening and was always active, enjoying her early morning walks at Babcock Park with her friends. Mary was always a kid at heart, with lots of energy and enthusiasm. She was always involved in activities with the kids such as playing kickball, baseball, fishing, and even arm wrestling.


Family was always very important to Mary. She is survived by her beloved sister and lifelong best friend, Cheryl A. (Ron) Thompson. Mary is also survived by her four children and their families. Daughter Dawn (Jim) Traxler; children Tara (Joel) Coffey and their family Benjamin and Gwendolyn; Tricia Traxler and her children Thomas and Jasmine; Donald Traxler (Michelle Carlson). Daughter Audrey Arber (Dave Gilbert) and her son Richard Matthew Rex, his wife Maggie and their children Adeline, Ruby, Hazel “Kit” and Simone. Son Thomas Arber Jr and his wife Melissa and their children Austin Ohern (Olivia Clark) and family Braelynn, Eliana, Isabella, Calliope, Cypress and Oakland; Tyler (Anna) Coots and their son Easton; Autumn Arber (Bobby Tong); Thomas (Payton Jones) Arber and their son Waylon. Son David Arber (Chris Gladden) in care of Tuffy, Mary’s beloved “Pretty Kitty”. Mary was “Grandma the Great” to 16 great-grandchildren and counting. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and dear friends.


Family and friends may call Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, West Sparta, NY where Mary will be set to rest alongside her husband, Tom.
