West Sparta- James L. Upright age 67, passed away early Wednesday morning October 22, 2025, at his home in West Sparta.

He was born in Warsaw on May 28, 1958, a son of the late Edris and Charlotte (Buckley) Upright. He was also predeceased by his wife Judy Upright and a brother Edwin Upright. On June 30, 2018, he weas married to Clara French Young Upright.

He was a former maintenance employee at Warsaw Central School and in his free time he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.

He is survived by his wife Clara, his children, Lisa (Frank)Upright, Melissa Chapman, Eric (Megan) Upright, Bodene (Jessica) Young, Kyle Young, Julie (Chris) Lewis, Christina (Brian) Standt, Audrey (Mike) Warr, a brother Vall (Rose) Upright, sisters, Rose Candie, and Edith (Dennis Foster) Sherman, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday November 2, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm at the Hook and Ladder club room on Clara Barton St., in Dansville. Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., in Dansville has charge of arrangements. Online memories may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
